The hike to Laguna Esmeralda is easy and very varied. The path leads across wooden boardwalks and bridges through beautiful natural scenery. A short climb leads to the lake. The total distance is just under 10 kilometers.

This hike can easily be combined with the hike to Laguna Turquesa, which is located nearby.

Especially in rain or snow, it's important to note that the trail is extremely strenuous (mud EVERYWHERE!). My advice is to pack appropriately for the weather and remember that you're heading into the mountains, meaning the weather can change very quickly.

The lake itself is well worth seeing for anyone who hasn't seen anything like it before.

It should also be noted that if you continue directly from here, you'll reach the glacier, but this is anything but an easy route, so you should have some hiking and mountaineering experience.
