This monument was erected as a 'monument to the Letschiner victims of the German wars of unification' and was later renamed 'Memorial to the victims of all wars' and now commemorates the victims of the German wars of unification until the Second World War.

Originally erected as a memorial for the victims of the Franco-Prussian War, it is now called the "Memorial for the Victims of the Wars in Letschin". Accordingly, the inscriptions read:
"The struggle of the people against imperialism and war is the guarantor of peace."
"The victims of war warn."
