The Kaisersaal is rightly named. It is a traditional cultural and congress center in the old town of Erfurt. This was where the Erfurt Prince's Congress of Emperor Napoleon I and Tsar Alexander I took place in 1808.
However, the history of the house is particularly associated with many famous artists such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich von Schiller, Niccolò Paganini, Clara Schumann or Franz Liszt. It served as the ball house of the University of Erfurt and as a city theater.

The Kaisersaal is a traditional culture and congress center in the old town of Erfurt. The Erfurt Congress of Princes of Emperor Napoleon I and Tsar Alexander I took place here in 1808 and the Erfurt Party Congress of the SPD in 1891. On April 12, 1946, at a joint meeting in the Kaisersaal, communists and social democrats passed the “Resolution on the merger of the KPD and SPD to form the Socialist Unity Party of Germany SED” at the local level. The Kaisersaal is part of a listed ensemble at Futterstraße 15/16.
