Ciclism

From July 1941, 55,000 Soviet prisoners of war, forced laborers, Italian and French officers, and soldiers of other nationalities were transported in cattle cars to Stalag XD 310 and the later oflag 83.

Over 16,000 starved, froze, and died from violence.

As the street names "Bahnhofstraße" and "Am Bahnhof" reveal, Wietzendorf's train station is located here. The route runs from Celle to Soltau and was opened at the beginning of the 20th century. From 1967 onwards, rail traffic was reduced bit by bit and in the 1970s the rail passenger traffic was discontinued: on May 30, 1975 between Bergen and Soltau, and on May 31, 1976 the remaining traffic between Celle and Bergen.
A small amount of freight traffic and military traffic remained.
