The Steinkohlenweg connects the towns of Oelsnitz/Erzgeb., Lugau, Hohndorf and Gersdorf and describes their common history. On the traces of the hard coal development of the region, one learns interesting facts about the mining in this area on more than 80 explanatory boards. The 18 km long circular hiking trail includes the historical background of the cities as well as works of art and sights. There are many historical places on the way, such as the Mining Museum, the Deutschlandschachthalde and former shafts.
