Supposedly founded in 1200 by the Earl of Pembrokshire, who made a vow when his boat was caught in a storm nearby. Tintern Abbey is a partially ruined monastery that was further damaged by a fire in 2012. The grounds and woods surrounding the Abbey are great fun to explore.

Tindern Abbey was formerly a Cistercian monastery. After the monasteries were dissolved by the English in the 16th century, it fell into disrepair. Today only this ruin remains.
