At 2,504 meters, the Hochtor marks the highest point of the Großglockner High Alpine Road. In summer, countless hikers, cyclists and drivers come here to enjoy the magnificent view. The state border between Salzburg and Carinthia lies in the middle of the Hochtor Tunnel. On the south side of the Hochtor you can visit an interesting exhibition: For thousands of years, the Glockner crossing has been the shortest trade route between north and south. There is also a souvenir shop and a catering area next to it.

Drumeție
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road, which runs over this pass and is only passable in summer, is a toll road and connects the two Austrian federal states of Salzburg and Carinthia. This panoramic road is Austria's highest pass crossing and the only road connection over the main Alpine ridge between Brenner and Salzburg's Lungau. It leads from Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse in the Salzach Valley through the Fuschertal (toll booth in Ferleiten, 1,145 m) in a southerly direction up to the Fuscher Törl (2,482 m)
