In 1808 Bernhard Adler had the gas spring, known from time immemorial as "the Polterer", in 1811 the cold spring and the Louisenquelle, in 1816 the salt spring and in 1820 the meadow spring. He promoted the expansion of existing spa facilities, accommodation for those seeking healing and promoted the transformation of the swampy moorland with paths and footbridges to well-known springs from which water was drawn according to old law and brought to Eger for sale.

The bust of the founder of the spa town, Dr. Bernhard Adler (1753–1810), the town physician of Cheb (Eger), rests on a round pedestal. The bust was created in 1902 by the sculptor Karl Wilfert at the initiative of the then mayor and architect Gustav Wiedermann. The red syenite base bears the inscription "Dr. BERNHARD ADLER." The bust, featuring the Rod of Asclepius as a symbol of the medical profession and the signature "K. WILFERT. EGER.", is made of marble. The bust itself is carved from Carrara marble.
