Minden station is an "island station" because the reception building is located between two platforms. Border station between the former Kingdom of Hanover and the former Prussian province of Westphalia. Therefore, the Lower Saxony bicycle ticket is still valid here (to Herford station) for changing trains towards Osnabrück and Hanover. Bicycle station behind the station building between platforms 1 and 10.

Minden (Westfalen) station (officially Minden (Westf)) is an island station on the main routes from the Ruhr area to Hanover (Hamm-Minden railway and Hanover-Minden railway), Amsterdam-Hanover (Löhne-Rheine railway) and the branch line to Nienburg (railway line Nienburg–Minden) in the Deutsche Bahn AG network. It is a hub in local and long-distance passenger transport as well as in freight transport for the region of the East Westphalian city of Minden.
