A "cemetery of the homeless" describes a cemetery in which mainly unknown fatalities are buried, which were washed up on the beach after shipwrecks and heavy storms. countless ship strandings off Sylt sealed the fate of countless seafarers, whose bodies were often washed up on the beach. For a long time they were simply buried in the next dune. This small cemetery was not created until 1854.
