The Santa Teresa Bridge, also known as the Puente de la Virgen, was the first bridge in Elche over the Vinalopó, without the wooden walkway that emerges from the s. XVI century, was to unite the Raval with the Franciscan monastery of San José. After the reform after a flood, the bridge started to have two eyes with slightly pointed pointed arches and a central fracture line with an angle of 90º in plan. On top of the bridge are the casilicios that house the image of the Virgin of the Asunción and San Agatángelo.

The Santa Teresa Bridge, also known as the Puente de la Virgen or Pont Vell, is the oldest bridge in Elche. Originally built of wood, it linked the old town with the Santa Teresa neighbourhood around the convent of San José.
Construction of the current bridge began in 1705, but was halted for ten years due to the War of Succession and was completed in 1756. This bridge was instrumental in the expansion of the city and is a point of historical interest in Elche.
