The war memorial in Arendsee is a protected cultural monument commemorating the fallen of both World Wars. It consists of an obelisk on a pedestal. Originally, the pedestal bore plaques bearing the names of the 75 soldiers from Arendsee who died in World War I. After World War II, additional memorial plaques were added, dedicated to the victims of both wars, those who died in captivity, and those killed through expulsion, deportation, and dictatorial regimes. The obelisk inscription reads: In honor of the fallen | In consolation of the mourners | As a warning to us all.
