The small village of Coiano, on the hills on the border between the Elsa and Egola valleys, a few kilometers from Castelfiorentino, is known in particular for the presence of the monumental Romanesque church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. This is located on the famous Via Francigena and is mentioned in Sigeric's itinerary as Sce Peter Currant, so it already existed in 990.
