Langres**, located at an altitude of 500m on top of the rocky spur of the plateau where the Seine and the Marne originate, is a real acropolis, enclosed by the longest fortress wall in Europe. The beautiful place behind kilometers of city walls with towers and gates shows the traces of seventeen centuries of history and was spared during the last three wars. Limestone houses line the winding streets and passageways in the city center, where Diderot was born. From her high position she keeps watch over a land with many temptations.

The town of Langres is located on a rocky promontory. It has been a defensive site since the Neolithic period. It is still surrounded by beautiful walls. From the top of its ramparts, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. Langres is classified as a town of art and history and a town in bloom. It is also famous for its cheese, which bears the same name as the town and has a taste quite similar to Epoisses. Cheese lovers will appreciate this tasty cheese.
