The most striking source of the Göhl is a natural spring lake in the forest, about 300 meters north of the official Via Gulia starting point. Several small tributaries converge here, quickly joining to form a lively stream, thus symbolizing the end of the source zone.

"The small river has its source at Hebscheider Heide near the German-Belgian border and after 20 kilometers it crosses the border to the Netherlands, where it flows into the Meuse after another 40 kilometers. The water of the Göhl was very important for them in earlier times Economy of the surrounding villages.
