The station was built in the course of the construction of the Lahn valley line Gießen-Koblenz 1860-1862. Because of the line running here on the north side of the Lahn, it lies to the right of the river a little above the Lahntal bridge. Until the Lahn Bridge was built at the end of the 19th century, Villmar's train station could only be reached by ferry. The station is a listed building. (Source: Industrial Culture Central Hesse)

From here, it is worth taking a detour to Villmar, the main town of the market town of the same name. Villmar was first mentioned in 1053 as an imperial gift (King's Court of Vilimar) to the Abbey of St. Matthias in Trier. From the 17th century, Villmar developed into the centre of Lahn marble. Sights: Marble Bridge (1895), Church of St. Peter & Paul (Hadamar Baroque, marble work 19th century), Baroque fountain (1728) in the rectory garden, Town Hall Square with marble fountain (1827).
