The impressive Carl Gustafs church in the center of Karlshamn was built in the early 18th century in carolinian style, a style that was common when Sweden was a superpower. Next to the church, you can see a freestanding bell tower that was constructed, because the original bell tower within the center of the church itself was too weak for the bells heavy weight.

The cross-shaped church is named after King Charles X Gustav. Construction of the church began in 1680 and lasted until the following century.
