The Elisabeth spring, embedded in a walled niche, is to the east of the castle, on the steep bank of the lake. The spring bears the name of the Duchess of Mecklenburg, who died in 1908.

Also worth mentioning is the Kaisertreppe, which got its name after a visit by Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1903.

The remains of the Elisabeth spring can be found below Wiligrad Castle, directly on the lake slope.
The square in front of the spring offers a wide view over Lake Schwerin. The spring is considered a place steeped in legend, but it is certain that the earlier residents of the castle fetched their Easter water from the Elisabeth spring "in secrecy" at Easter.
