From the Henkelmann Bridge you have a beautiful view of Oberhausen's new center, with the turbine hall and gasometer.
The bridge itself is also an industrial monument worth seeing, which was first mentioned in 1894. It gets its name from the "Henkelmänner" (= snack boxes) with lunch for steel workers, who lowered their wives and children from the bridge into the Gutehoffnungshütte factory premises.

The Henkelmannbrücke is responsible for the fact that the Oberhausen workers of the former iron and steel works had to bite properly during the shift break. It connected the industrial site with the workers' quarters on Brückorstrasse. Just in time for lunchtime, the women and children of the steel workers came to the bridge and lowered the handles for their hungry fathers and men by twine. Therefore the name.
