The Catholic Church in Hövelhof has had an eventful history: The first church was built in the city in 1706, but it became too small after 140 years. The services were then held in an emergency church. In 1929 the construction of the new parish church was completed, until 1979 it was again extensively renovated and then consecrated.

"... On the site of today's Senne Pharmacy, the first small church in Hövelhof was built in 1705/06.

In 1706, the then Prince-Bishop Franz Arnold von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht had the first parish church built on the square in front of the prince-bishop's hunting lodge. The current church is the fourth parish church in Hövelhof and was built between 1977 and 1979. The tower of the third parish church was preserved. The church has a cruciform floor plan, with the altar forming the exact center of the building. ..."
