As "Blasius the Walker", the Munich writer and journalist Siegfried "Sigi" Sommer wrote columns for the Munich evening newspaper (AZ) for decades. Since 1998, the bronze statue in Rosenstrasse between Marienplatz and Sendlinger Strasse has commemorated this literary flaneur.
As of 02/2023: In case anyone misses him: as long as Mr. Benko is renovating the Kaut-Bullinger House, Mr. Sommer is in storage for safety reasons, but will come back again, one day.

The writer's traces can still be found in some places in Munich today. It seems almost ironic that the city's most famous walker was honored with a statue, among other things:

Since 1998, the life-size figure of Sommer, designed by the sculptor Max Wagner, has stood in the middle of the pedestrian zone at Rosenstrasse 8.
The square in front of the house on Schäftlarnstrasse in Untersendling/Thalkirchen, where Sommer grew up, is now called Sigi Sommer Square.
The writer's grave can be visited in the Neuhausen cemetery.
