The important pieces of equipment also include the remains of the ornamental ceiling painting from 1330 on the western vault in the southern aisle, as well as the St. Anne's Chapel from 1508 and the St. Mary's Chapel from the early 14th century. The Renaissance baptismal font dates from 1588, the baroque pulpit from 1693 and the monumental baroque altar depicting the Last Supper from 1700. In the cathedral and in the cloister there are 63 grave slabs made of sandstone with pictures of Havelberg bishops, cathedral provosts, chapter members and their families from the 13th to 18th centuries.

The Havelberg Cathedral Sankt Marien was once the cathedral of the Havelberg diocese. The Bishopric of Havelberg itself was founded by King Otto I in 946 or 948 and, along with Brandenburg, was the earliest bishopric east of the Elbe.

Visible from afar, the St. Marien Cathedral stands above the Havelberg city island on the mountainous northern bank of the Havel. In 946, King Otto I, the later Emperor, founded the diocese in Havelberg east of the Elbe, among other things, in order to bring the Christian faith to the then Slavic-populated areas east of the Elbe.
