Ciclism

The work of a shoemaker isn't so easy when your dog tries to steal your shoes and even the mice have made themselves at home in your workshop. With a cheerful image and a touch of humor, the detailed sculpture recalls the history of shoemakers in Preetz. Around 1850, the town boasted 150 independent master shoemakers, 360 journeyman shoemakers, and 160 shoemaking apprentices. In addition, there was a large number of clog makers.

Preetz calls itself a shoemaker town. However, the last active shoemaker in the city stopped his craft not long ago.

Working as a shoemaker isn't all that easy when your dog tries to steal your shoes and even mice make themselves comfortable in your workshop. With a cheerful image and a wink, the detailed sculpture commemorates the history of shoemakers in Preetz. Around 1850, there were 150 independent master shoemakers, 360 journeymen shoemakers, and 160 apprentice shoemakers. In addition to these, there were a large number of wooden slipper makers.
