Symbol of the Via dell’Acqua, the great beech, which is over 70 years old, is actually composed of several elements: a dense network of superficial roots and very heavy branches with a steeply sloping position.

UPDATE JULY 2020: "Il grande beech" has suffered the collapse of one of its main branches. The causes of the crash are to be attributed to the presence of bark and included tissues combined with the action of a fungus (Fomes) which degrades its structure.
