At 2,615 feet (797 m), hikes up Cairnsmore of Carsphairn still involve significant ascent, even though its height pales in comparison to many of Scotland’s mountains. In the Southern Uplands, this large, lumbering hill offers an invigorating adventure over its rounded flanks and, as you gaze out from the summit, its smaller neighbours roll into the distance from the way you came.

This beautiful grassy summit is the tallest in the northern Galloway range. After your short but steep climb, you'll be rewarded with stunning views toward southern Scotland.

Not the most interesting Corbett in Galloway, let alone Scotland, still there's good views from the rounded grassy top. The rest of the hill is sheep grazed grassy upland, and is unrelentingly boggy
