Oklahoma City is the capital of the US state of Oklahoma and its economic and cultural center. The city is the county seat of the homonymous Oklahoma County. It is one of the largest cities in the Great Plains and is located on the North Canadian River in the center of the state of Oklahoma. According to official estimates, it had around 640,000 inhabitants in 2016, making it the most populous city in Oklahoma. Around 1.37 million people lived in the metropolitan region in 2016.

The tower has a height of 259 meters, after its completion it replaced the Chase Tower (152 meters) a few hundred meters away, which was the tallest structure in the city to date.
