The construction of the church was requested in 1937 and the consecration took place in 1939. It is a so-called barn architecture by Thomas Wechs. From 2016 to 2021, a comprehensive renovation of the church was carried out under the direction of architect Klaus Pilz, during which the church tower dome was re-roofed, among other things.
