The Prüm Valley Cycle Route follows the second longest river in the Eifel from start to finish. The route does not always run evenly along the valley floor, favouring instead a variety of uphill and downhill paths.

The railway line left Pronsfeld station on the western outskirts of the train and ran largely flat along the Prüm valley. Shortly before the end station Waxweiler the river was crossed on a bridge. The federal road 410 crossed at Lünebach. The terminus with locomotive shed and water tower [4] was on the northwestern outskirts of Waxweiler. The former station building at Waxweiler station was bought by a construction company; the locomotive shed at the end of the line is owned by the municipality. A historic renovation of the reception building was completed in July 2018. A renovation of the locomotive shed is also planned. [6]
