Bastionen in Nyborg is a theater and cultural center housed in a historic, renovated building in the heart of the city. It has been a cultural meeting place since 1897 and hosts a variety of events, including concerts, theater performances, comedy, and other entertainment programs for children and adults.
The center is closely connected to the history of Nyborg and its people.
It offers various spaces, each with its own charm and history. The event program is wide-ranging and includes everything from lectures and knitting clubs to live music and larger theater productions.

Since 1897, Nyborg has had a unique theater building. The town's citizens' association needed a meeting place and raised money to plan and build the "Industrihotellet".

The Industriehotel, also called the Citizens' Association House, Nyborg Theater or simply "Industrien", also housed a theater hall, so that the old town hall was no longer a theater hall. For generations it has been a place of activity and togetherness for city children of all ages.

However, the building has been through so much: a fire, being used as the headquarters of the occupying forces in World War II and the resulting damage, reconstruction, another fire, being converted into a jazz club and discotheque, a major renovation in 2006 and then handed over to Nyborg Municipality in November 2014. From 2015, the transformation into the cultural center BASTIONEN began and the inauguration took place on. June 16, 2017.

The building is primarily the home of the Citizens' and Craftsmen's Association, the original materials were chosen with care, the enthusiasm for this architectural style is evident in the many beautiful arches, columns, mosaics and carvings. When renovating the Bastion, we tried to restore the original symmetry of the building and highlight many of the original details that may have been forgotten over the past decades.

The Bastion now receives over 45,000 guests annually. There are over 180 open cultural events and over 1000 rooms available for rent.
