In the meantime - 09 2024 you can almost completely avoid the federal highway on this new cycle path. Highly recommended.

This new bike road (actually a 12 km segment of the planned Bled-Bohinj bicycling infrastructure) is the latest and best addition to already extensive biking network in Bohinj area. Being quite easy, it will probably appeal mostly to recreational cyclists, more interested in beautiful nature and great outdoors exercise than in "personal bests" on 15-degree hills. And beautiful nature is here definitely in abundance! Stop by Grmečica Fall, especially when the water volume is high (late springtime or after heavy rains), and the ~10m high fall is more impressive.
PS: this road is, officially, still not opened. So, there are various signs and warnings to that effect. You can ignore them.
