        The Datteln Sea may not be a sea in the true sense of the word, but the fascination of this vast body of water is just as fascinating. All four Ruhr canals meet in the city of Datteln: the Dortmund-Ems Canal, the Rhine-Herne Canal, the Datteln-Hamm Canal, and the Wesel-Datteln Canal, so Datteln is rightly called Europe's largest canal junction.
