Half-timbered houses as far as the eye can see The picturesque half-timbered town was first mentioned in 1025. The city, which today has around 33,000 inhabitants, was an important fortified city at the Weser crossing in the Middle Ages. Lovingly restored half-timbered buildings, Burgmannshöfe like the Posthof (library) or the Fresenhof (museum), farmer's or patrician's houses bear witness to the history of Nienburg.

The best way to explore the old town of Nienburg is to take a walk along the "Nienburg Bear Trail". Follow the bear paws through the old town and get to know the sights of Nienburg. The trail takes you past the city's landmark, the parish church of St. Martin, the town hall from the Weser Renaissance period, past the Stock Tower and the Quaet-Faslem-Haus.
