The church, or rather its foundations, is as old as the village. It was first mentioned in a document in 1230 and it is believed that an immigrant German named Reinicke Wessel founded the place. That would also have a hand and foot, because until 1302 the old military and trade route between Stettin and Schwedt passed here. Then, due to a ban, the road could no longer be used and the town was deprived of its economic base. With the exception of a period of around 20 years immediately after the 30-year war, there were always more and sometimes fewer residents and therefore always a church in the village.

Otto von Bamberg visited Pomerania twice on his missionary journeys between 1120 and 1130 to bring Christianity to the local Slavs. He found many places almost deserted or completely abandoned. It is still unchanged in the ring walls, which have been preserved.

The Hohenreinkendorf church is a stately early Gothic field stone building, with a retracted rectangular choir, from the middle of the 13th century. The beginnings of a sacristy can still be seen on the north side of the choir. A square brick tower was built on top of the wider transverse rectangular west tower in 1894. A bell in the tower is from 1849 and was cast by Carl Friedrich Voss from Stettin. The older of the two bells is from 1698. On the north side of the churchyard there is a churchyard portal with a round arch in the stone wall. The cemetery portal was made of brick using field stone, at the end of the 15th / beginning of the 16th century. The war damage to the church was repaired in 1966/1968.

The interior of the church has a straight beamed ceiling at the top. The nave and choir are connected by a pointed triumphal arch. The three-storey altarpiece, from around 1600, was restored in 1973. It has an architectural structure with carved reliefs. During the restoration of the church, the pulpit and gallery were changed. The organ on the north wall from 1961 is by the organ builder Werner Hopf from Neustetten-Frankenried.
