The entire city lies at your feet, offering a magnificent view and a stunning panorama.

St. George's Church, built between 1690 and 1699, dominates the cityscape along with the castle. This Baroque hall church replaced a church on the lower market square that had become too small. It features an exceptionally richly carved, flat wooden ceiling, a particularly ornate chancel, and a two-tiered wooden altar.

Schwarzenberg (Erzgebirge) is a large district town in the Saxon Ore Mountains district. Founded in the 12th century as a fortification to protect a trade route, the small mining town developed into the center of the eponymous lordship and later the Schwarzenberg district.

Schwarzenberg was first mentioned in a document in 1282 as civitas Swartzenberg. During excavations by the State Museum for Prehistory in Dresden in 1977, sherds of pottery were found, which are dated to around the year 1200. It is therefore assumed that there was a settlement in the named area much earlier. The year 1150 was set as the possible founding year of Schwarzenberg and the starting point for the 850th anniversary of the city in 2000.

Schwarzenberg/Erzgeb. is a large district town in the Saxon Erzgebirge district.
