The Staatzer cliff is a limestone cliff that "floats" on a merglingen cliff shell and has no connection to the crystalline underground. The cliff rises about 100 m above the rest of the area and is therefore an excellent viewing mountain.

The Staatzer Berg is a striking limestone cliff in the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. Geographically, the Staatzer cliff belongs to the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and dominates the slightly hilly landscape by about 100 meters. The Staatz ruins are on the top. This was destroyed by the Swedes in 1645 in the Thirty Years' War. Parts of the castle were demolished for the construction of the new castle at the foot of the rock. In 1945 the castle burned down and was demolished. Today, the dump box, a rock cellar and two residential buildings from the former palace complex have been preserved.
