The old gasworks in Dresden-Mockritz was put into operation as early as 1906. Mockritz and 11 other towns were supplied with light gas (also known as town gas) from here. Due to the advancing industrialization, the factory was too small and stopped production in 1922. After that, it served as a factory hall and location for small businesses, among other things. From about 2015, this building was renovated extensively and in accordance with the requirements of the monument. So now 12 apartments with a loft character have been created. I was there in 2018 for the Open Monument Day and was amazed by the architecture.

The old Dresden gasworks on Babisnauer Straße 30 in Dresden-Mockritz was built in 1906 and supplied the surrounding towns with coal gas. After production ceased in 1922, the building has served various purposes over the past 90 years, including as a factory building and commercial property.

Now the historic area with its unique charm will be converted into spacious apartments by September 2018. The almost 3,000 square meter property is undergoing extensive renovation in order to create modern living space with a loft character.
