    Just a few minutes' walk north of the city center, the Reichenbach city park with its valuable old trees and its two ponds invites you to stroll, linger and relax.

    More than 125 years ago, on July 14, 1888, the city council approved Mayor Hugo Klinkhardt's proposal to create a public garden on the nearly 8-hectare site of the former clay pit next to the cemetery.

    In the years that followed, the area was drained and leveled. From 1897, the new park with paths, planting areas, rare trees and shrubs, water areas, benches, an accommodation hall and a large playground was created under the direction of city gardener Schädlich. In 1956 a music pavilion was built. The youngest visitors to the park have recently been romping around on their new playground.

    Numerous visitors experience the events that take place regularly in the music pavilion, such as "Musik im Park", the summer festivals of the Vogtland Music School or the Whitsun concert of the Vogtland Philharmonic Greiz-Reichenbach. During the "Winter Magic" in the cold season, the city park is transformed into a fantastic winter world with romantic lighting and many offers, especially for and with children.
