The picturesque ruins overlooking the sea of the church of Sant’Anna are the ideal place to admire the sunset over the city of Sestri Levante: there is also a bench placed right in front of the sea. The first written mention of the church dates back to 1506, even though the church is only shown on maps from the end of the 16th century. The church almost certainly fell out of office from 1810, after some places of worship were closed and religious orders suppressed by the new pro-French administration of the Apennine department (First French Empire). The subsequent opening of the new Napoleonic coastal road under today's coastal section of the state road 1 Via Aurelia - an unstoppable and rapid abandonment of the historical path and thus also of the church decided; The latter had already partially collapsed in 1820.
