      The first 6.3 kilometers of the Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path ends with an architectural peculiarity: the 39-meter-long bridge made of Siberian larch leads cyclists across the Ruwer near Waldrach. The steel girders of the former railway bridge were replaced by wood in the Radwegebau. The bridge builders were inspired by the famous Chapel Bridge in Lucerne from the 14th century. So that the new bridge at Waldrach can also become very old, Siberian larch has been used. This tree grows very slowly, which makes the wood denser and more durable. For the bridge roof, the builders opted for the slate, which is typical of the Mosel region and, in bad weather, not only protects the larch, but also offers shelter to cyclists.
