On the Hohe Wart - a crossroads of very old roads - you have a view of the Fichtel Mountains and the Bohemian Forest on a clear day. The Fehlner Chapel was named after the builder. An information board provides detailed information.

The Fehlner Chapel on the AS9 near Bittenbrunn is located on the "Wacht". This field name, which was already recorded in the original cadastre of 1835, is reminiscent of an important rest area at the intersection of two important old roads, the "Hohen Straße" and the "Bistumer Steig". The first mentioned, an important west-east connection, was already known in Celtic times and led from the Forchheim area eastwards towards Premberg an der Naab. The "Bistumer Steig" led traders and travellers from the area around Eger southwards to the important Celtic settlement of Manching an der Donau.
The chapel is a solid building closed on three sides with a gable roof; the year "1927" indicates its construction. It has a ridge turret with a bell and a vestibule. The plaster structure was renewed in 1996 and the chapel was painted in the church colours of white and yellow.
In 1927, the three brothers Johann, Josef and Sebastian Fehlner, who were born in Häuslöd, built a chapel in honor of the Mother of God on this property, located between Bittenbrunn and Häuslöd.
The reason for this, according to family members, was a vow made by the three brothers due to their largely unscathed return from the First World War, as well as their successful completion of their master carpenter's examination.
The forest was not so high at the time, and so three pilgrimage churches could be seen from the chosen spot: the church on the Habsberg, the Annaberg near Sulzbach-Rosenberg and the Mariahilfberg above Amberg. The view to the north is still fascinating today. Benches invite you to linger.
Unfortunately, the gem was robbed for the third time in May 1978, and valuable inventory was lost, including a carved figure of the Mother of God and an oil painting.
Every year, a May devotion is celebrated here on the Feast of the Ascension, followed by the forest festival of the Ursensollen-Ammerthal Tourist Association.
