    Impressive place where the Gueule (Göhl in German), rushes into a tunnel. As the mines of Plombières were once regularly flooded by the Gueule, it was decided, in 1861, to dig a tunnel in order to divert its course and thus secure the galleries. The place which is now very picturesque is therefore not natural, but was dug by man. Nice picnic spots nearby.

        The underground passage or "cave" where the Geule "disappears" herein is not natural but artificially constructed. It was dug for the relocation of the Geul because too much water flowed from the river into the mine galleries. The original bed of the river still exists in the form of the lake a little further on. By shifting the river, the water could be discharged at high water levels. It all looks quite impressive and the sound of the water is also worth it. Also take a walk from the viewing platform to the wall where you see a water gate that was used for the laundries and turbines of the mines.
