The Nauener Tor is one of the three preserved city gates of Potsdam. It was built in 1754/55 and is regarded as the first neo-gothic style building on the European continent.

In 1733, during the II. Baroque expansion of the city, a new gate was built 20 meters in front of today's square. 1754/55, ie 20 years before the actual beginning of the Neugotik on the continent, developed after a sketch of Friedrich II by the architect Johann Gottfried Büring with the Nauener gate in Potsdam an architecture in gothic forms. 1867-69, this gate was rebuilt by King William I in its present form
