The "Insultheimer Hof", originally a hamlet called "Ansilisheim", was laid out risky on a relatively high gravel bank from around the 6th century. His fate was accordingly shaped by the flood of the Rhine and so he was sometimes to the left and then again to the right of the main channel of the river.
At the end of the Thirty Years' War the place was completely deserted. Later, the then owner, the diocese of Speyer, appointed tenants with varying success and a small community emerged again, even with a village wall and chapel.
In the course of secularization, the estate came to the Grand Duchy of Baden as a state domain in 1806 and was added to the Hockenheim district. The way there today was expanded in its current form in 1885.
