Typical of Stenbjerg Landingsplads are the white tool sheds from the time when coastal fishing was practiced on the beach. Here the fishermen pulled their boats ashore with the help of capstans and the catch was prepared in the houses for resale. Coastal fishing was risky and exposed to the forces of nature, which is why professional fishermen moved from Stenbjerg to Hanstholm harbor in the early 1970s. Today the boats are smaller and can be maneuvered with a tractor.

It is thanks to local conservationists that the landing site has remained an authentic setting. The quaint houses and the sometimes violent surf, which stand in sharp contrast to each other, attract many people. On nice summer days you can also swim in Stenbjerg, while a walk on the beach is always popular. In one of the houses there is a small visitor center for the Thy National Park.
Stenbjerg Landingsplads is surrounded by protected dune heath. Just under a kilometer south is Stenbjerg Båke, one of three surviving sea marks in Thy. The other two can be found at Bøgstedrende and Vigsø. A little further south, an old path leads into an area of dune heath that is of rare beauty and privacy.
