The TECHNOSEUM (formerly known as the State Museum for Technology and Work) in Mannheim, with its unusual architecture, is considered to be groundbreaking for modern museum construction. There is a beautiful park to the north of the Technoseum.

The sensation for me are the railway exhibits in the outdoor area on the southern edge of the building, which you can view at any time without paying an entrance fee.
Free-standing red shunting lock from the 60s. Behind it, hidden under the building, is a postal car from the German Federal Post Office, a diesel-electric experimental train, a steam train from 1919 (very impressive!) and an even older narrow-gauge steam train, built by a factory in Karlsruhe.
