    The Albrecht Dürer House, built around 1420 and Dürer's home and workplace from 1509 to 1528, is the only artist's house from the 15th century that has survived in Northern Europe. The museum provides insights into the life and work of the painter, graphic artist and scientist who was known throughout Europe during his lifetime. A visit to Albrecht Dürer's living room, kitchen and studio is also a journey into the everyday life of an artist in the 16th century.

        The oldest beams in the house on the corner of the former Zistelgasse and the square in front of the Tiergärtner Tor could be dendrochronologically dated to 1418, which suggests the erection of the stately building around 1420.
