The Park Hoge Vucht is the largest park in Breda and has an average width of 200 meters and a total length of almost four kilometers. It forms a natural transition between Breda-Noord and the Lage Vuchtpolder.

History
Park Hoge Vucht was built in the 1970s as a recreational facility for the Hoge Vucht district. In 2000, the municipality extensively renovated the park and the park became more spacious and a number of functions were also added. An interesting historical object between the Lage Vuchtpolder and the park is the Zwarte Dijk. This probably dates from the 14th century.

Nature
The ground level of the Hoge Vucht Park has been excavated locally to reach the old underground, consisting of clay, sand and peat. The differences in the old subsoil offer opportunities for a varied flora. This flora attracts various animals, such as amphibians, birds and small mammals. This creates an ecologically interesting place. The park contributes to the development of nature in the city.

Water machine
The Hoge Vucht Park plays an important role in local water management. Water is pumped from the ponds into water reservoirs by means of water mills. Here it can slowly sink into the ground up to the groundwater (= sideways) and then rise up again in the Lage Vuchtpolder (= seepage).

Limousins
Cows of the Limousine breed graze in Park Hoge Vucht. They contribute to the development and management of the Hoge Vucht Park. The Limousine variety comes from Haute Vienne in southwestern France. The cows are not milked, they nurse their calves. It is an old, sober breed and can be left outside in winter.
