The karst spring pours about 500-600 liters of water per second, making it the strongest source of Franconian Switzerland. At the source pot is a digital water meter that displays the daily load in cubic meters. From the rock flows the water of two enormous fall springs that collect in a spring pot. In this there is also a pot source. The water flows through a drain to the stamper mill, which was operated earlier. Other spring outlets can be observed on the banks of the Wiesent. Even with strong periods of drought, no bulk fluctuations of the source are recorded. It is therefore believed that their catchment area is very large and even extends into the Veldensteiner forest. Contrast water investigations have shown that there is a direct connection between the Stempfermühlquelle and the Fellner-Doline at a distance of 1.6 kilometers.

The Stempfermühle is located directly on the Radlweg in the Wiesenttal, very nice beer garden (as of 06/2020 unfortunately closed). The Stempfermühlquelle is the starting point for outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking, Nordic walking and cycling, and the Museum Railway is also a stop here.
