The Lauberhof belongs to Eisenberg and was first mentioned in documents in 1490. The farm is located on the medieval highway that led over the Schorlenberg through the Stumpfwald forest. In the Middle Ages, the farm was a rest and relay station for travelers on foot, horse and carriage. Horses were kept here to pull the horses along the difficult Stumpfwald road.
In the 19th century, the farm became a popular rest stop for Stumpfwald wagons and later a tourist restaurant for residents of the surrounding villages until 1960.
The well house with the draw well, renovated in 1750, is a special attraction. The well is 56 meters deep and has a diameter of around two meters. The upper eight meters are bricked up with sandstone without plaster. The water was previously pumped using a hand reel, rope and bucket, and it was only when the Lauberhof was connected to the electricity supply in 1958 that an electric motor pulled the heavy water bucket. A few years later, an electric submersible pump was purchased, which supplied the house with drinking water via a newly laid pipeline. And despite the drought of the past few years, the well still supplies enough water.
