It was built between 1886 and 1888 and named after Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. Context: Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. In 1910/11, the four-lane road bridge was renovated by Alfred Frederik Elias Grenander. The architectural sculpture is by Walter Schmarje (1883–1931). Two sculptures (reclining rams) stand at Helmholtzstraße/Franklinstraße. At Gotzkowskystraße/Wikingerufer, there is a massive gate providing access to the waterfront promenade, and on the other side, there is another sculpture of a ram. The bridge, including the sculpture, is a listed building.
